Just in geologic time: Rockin' Minerals (formerly known as Mineral Madness) turns thirty-one! You're invited to dig into the rockin' world of minerals on Saturday and Sunday, January 18 and 19 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. to celebrate the thirty first anniversary of this popular event.

We don’t take rocks for granite! Enjoy fun, hands-on activities for families. Visit geology and fossil activity stations where children can collect rocks, minerals, and fossils in their own egg carton collection box. We will have a focus this year on volcanic rocks. Visit the animatronic dinosaurs on the Museum grounds. And shop for your own mineral and fossil treasures at rock-bottom prices! You'll see a great variety of minerals and fossils from around the world, including:

- Rare Minerals
- Rock Sculptures including small dinosaur replicas
- Gemstones & Jewelry
- Wire wrapping
- Plant & Rock Combos
- Lapidary Rock & Fluorescent minerals
- Rock Readings (bring your own rock and our experts can tell you about it)

Connect with nature at the Desert Museum! Explore human relationships with the Sonoran Desert through science, crafts, play, and live animal encounters. Leave with an understanding of your role in the desert and ways to explore nature in your own lives. This camp is open to kids currently in Grades 1-6. Campers will be together for group activities and will separate into two groups (Grades 1-3 or 4-6) for age-appropriate activities and adventures throughout the day.

To the desert and beyond! Our hands-on, minds-on camps will open your eyes to the Sonoran Desert region’s diverse land and sea. Campers will explore every nook and cranny of the Museum as they use science to make their own desert discoveries, observe live animals up close, create art, and chill out in our Packrat Playhouse.
